In JEE there are two modes of examination for entry to the undergraduate courses in the field of engineering, IITs, AIEEE, NITs and many other institutions in technical ground.

JEE advanced is the second field where JEE main is the first step. This examination makes eligible to those students from science streams for their entry in engineering college. The programme has been for undergraduate level. This examination for entry to the engineering colleges has been conducted every year.  This year also the examination has been conducted.

The JEE advanced has been conducted so that the students can be admitted according to their capability and eligibility to the colleges or the institution. This examination has been conducted to judge the eligibility of a student desiring to get admission in the respective institutions.

Methods for appearing the JEE advanced

  • JEE advanced has been conducted every year in the month of May. The JEE advanced examination has also been conducted by another board known as JAB; the full form of JAB is joint admission board.
  • For appearing JEE advanced examination, a candidate has to apply online. Firstly the candidate is to registered and application begins in the first week of May every year. But JAB allows for application at the end of May in offline mode.
  • Only the candidates who gets registered can download their admit card or hall ticket issued by the authority.

Eligible norm for JEE advanced 2016

  • The percentage criteria is the main requirement such as

OBC-NCL: 27%

SC: 15%

ST: 7.5%


  • The candidates must have written the class xii final examination of either 2015 or 2016
  • Only the candidates who have successfully gone through the 12th examination becomes eligible for admission after clearing the JEE advanced exam
  • The candidates must be from science background
  • A candidates has been given a chance twice to appear for the JEE exam only in two consecutive year
  • The age limit for this examination is 25 years and must be among the top 1,50,000 candidates
  • The candidates who have passed 12 standard only in the consecutive years are eligible and not beyond that
  • The candidates whose admissions are cancelled in the past are not eligible.

Procedure for applying for JEE advanced examination 2016

  • The candidates is to visit the official website of JEE advanced examination 2016
  • The candidate is to fill up the form as provided providing the full and complete detailed. Only the complete fill up form would be accepted
  • The candidate has to upload the all the scanned copy of the documents
  • The last step is payment of fee as asked for. Unless you pay the prescribed examination your application would not be accepted, and unless your application is accepted you will not be permitted to appear for JEE advanced examination.

Syllabus of JEE advanced examination 2016

JEE advanced examination consist of two papers such as

  • Paper – 1
  • Paper- 2

The subjects consist of

  • Physics–general topics, mechanics, thermal physics, electricity and magnetisms, optics and modern physics
  • Chemistry-inorganic chemistry, physics chemistry, organic chemistry
  • Mathematics- algebra, trigonometry, analytical geometry, differencial calculus, integral calculus and vectors

The papers are available in two languages that is in Hindi and English. The candidates can prefer according to their choices and comfort.

The questions are of MCQ and also consisting of comprehension, and reasoning aptitudes. The question carries a negative marking. There is a penalty for every wrong answer.

The papers consist of 60 questions and a total mark of 264. The question mark has been divided into thee section as section 1, 2 and 3.

JEE advanced examination dates

The dates for JEE advanced examination are announced in advance long before the commencement of the date  of examination so that the candidates gets sufficient time to prepare for the examination keeping in view the Date of JEE advanced 2016 exam without any confusion.

The date for online application of JEE advanced is 29th April and closing date is may 4th.the admit card is available from 11 to 22 may. The candidate can download from the available official website and the declaration of result is 12th June 2016.

JEE advanced exam is conducted by 7 zonal IITs under the guidance of JAB  and its decisions is final in all matters relating to this examination.
